Pool Pressure Gauges – Fogged or Damaged

Pressure gauges are often located on top of the pools’ filter. They indicate the force of the water going through the filter. If too high or too low, then maintenance is generally recommended and normally is just part of the standard maintenance for a pool.

Check Once a Week

Many pool companies recommend that they be checked once a week to see if the pressure is in the suggested range for your pool equipment.

Too high of pressure

If the pressure gauge is showing a pressure that is 10 PSI over the standard operating pressure (found in the owners manual for your filter), then this is usually an indication that the filter needs cleaning or that there is something wrong with a valve.

Too Low of pressure

A restriction or blockage on the side where the water goes into the filter is often the cause. This may be caused from a variety of things and a qualified pool technician or maintenance person can usually correct this type of issue.

When Cloudy, Leaking or damaged

Leaking, cloudy and cracked gauges should be replaced. They are inexpensive and easy to replace.

Gauges are one of the easier items to replace. Home owners generally can easily handle this, but if they choose not to, then a pool maintenance person, a pool technician or a pool contractor can do it.
