Precast fireplaces often look like brick or adobe brick fireplaces, but on a closer look, are actually precast concrete. Meaning that they were constructed off-site by pre-casting concrete in forms and then hauled on a truck to the site where the home is being built.

Rampart Fireplaces

Rampart Fireplaces, are an example of this type of fireplace. Some of these fireplaces have cracking that is a fire-safety concern and others are functioning very well. If the fireplace is a Rampart fireplace or if there is a concern, a quick and inexpensive check by a local fireplace specialist can quickly determine if there is any reason for concern.

Most cracks can be patched or repaired, but there are a few that cannot be.

Who to consult? Fire place contractor or fire place inspector.

Many cracks are not of importance, however, a few are, and a fireplace contractor or qualified fireplace inspector can shed light on the condition of the fireplace.
