Will one length of nails be enough for the baseboards and door casings with a significant size difference between the outside and inside edges?

I’m about to tackle the baseboards and door casings in my project. The baseboard is 3/4″ thick and the casing is 1″ thick. I’m debating between getting 2″, 2.5″, or both lengths of nails. The base and casing have a noticeable difference in size between the outside and inside edges. What do you think – should I stick with just one length of nails or go with multiple sizes?
Attach a small 45 piece to cap the ends of the baseboard by the door trim
What size nail would you recommend for that?
3 inches
Are you working with a trim gun?
Let’s go Eagles!

Oops, I totally misread that haha. I always go with 3 inches in my trim gun for both
Always surprises me with how detailed he gets, definitely on the longer side
I’m a fan of the 3’s. They always manage to catch onto something
Always has something funny to say about pipes, electrical work, you name it! They always find a way to grab your attention 🙈
It could happen if you’re not certain about where to nail… haha
I never see 4p being used on door trim, I always nail my baseboard to studs as it should be… haha
Using 2 inches is acceptable for both
Remember, it’s best not to extend more than 1.5 inches past the drywall
Do you think using two different nail sizes for varying thicknesses is a good idea? If I opt for 2”, the nail might not penetrate as deeply at the widest point, but it should be sufficient at the thinnest.
2” is just right
I usually drive 1″ into a stud or other framing member, so I’d recommend using a 2.5″ nail for the job. It should work out well for you.
‘t forget to grab 4p for the casing inside edge and 45 degree corners too.
Can you explain what 4p means?
Size. 4 penny
