I’ve made a decision to finally wrap up all those little projects around the house by 2024! Check out this little New Year’s Day project I’ve got going on.

Are you currently using BEN interior paint?
Yep, it’s Benjamin Moore paint.
Montoya, I hate to break it to you, but that paint is not the best choice for cabinets. Did the folks at the paint store recommend it to you? I don’t mean to sound harsh, but that paint won’t hold up well on your cabinets.
I didn’t purchase it for the cabinets. I might use a different paint in the same color. I really like the color and wanted to visualize how the island would look. We’ve tackled several projects in the house, so I know about the different types of paints required. But I do appreciate you pointing it out!
Montoya understood, just remember to sand off all the paint so the new cabinet paint sticks properly. I’ve had customers paint doors with wall paint to test the color, but it ends up being more work to remove. The color is nice though.

Totally agree. Painting kitchen cabinets requires a different set of skills. I’m part of the Kitchen Cabinet Painting Experts group and there are tons of valuable tips specifically for that. This won’t hold up for long.
Yep, I’m a moderator in that group. As long as she completely removes it when she switches to the right paint, she should be fine.
Oh, I know! We’re actually planning on repainting it. We used cabinet paint on the other cabinets 5 years ago and they still look great. Thanks for the heads up!
I’m happy I found that group, even though it was a little late for me. Hopefully, I’ll muster the courage to fix the situation after the poor job done by the “contractor”. Thank you for all your hard work. It’s a valuable resource for people like myself.

Montoya, if you’re a fan, you might want to consider using polycrylic clear on top. Applying 2 coats can provide extra protection. Hopefully you’ve sanded and cleaned the cabinets with TSP after sanding.
