Why is water appearing on my deck door trim when it’s not raining, even though there’s no precipitation and the weather is just below freezing?

Hey, have you noticed that water seems to be coming from the bottom of the brown metal trim around the door on my deck? It only shows up when the weather cools down. I never had this issue when I had old wood trim and an aluminum sliding door. The deck itself is vinyl on plywood, with insulated aluminum siding. The water seems to freeze when it gets cold enough, but right now it’s just below freezing overnight and shows up every morning. It’s been a couple of weeks without any precipitation, and there’s a two-foot roof overhang with a newly shingled roof. Any ideas on what could be causing this water to appear?

My hunch is that condensation is building up on the inside of the trim and then dripping onto the floor. You did mention it’s not insulated. Maybe cold air is seeping in from the top?

Indeed, the trim has a hollow channel that’s closed at the top but open at the bottom, allowing condensation to drip out instead of collecting inside the channel. It just occurred to me that warm moist air from inside the house could be seeping around the door unit and causing condensation inside the cold metal trim. I suppose it wouldn’t be too difficult to remove the inside trim and seal around the door from the inside with silicone or foam. I’ll definitely give it a shot. Thanks!
