Why is my boiled linseed oil causing gummy patches on my floors and how can I effectively remove and fix this issue?

Why does boiled linseed oil get sticky? I recently re-oiled my floors, but some areas have turned gummy. I’m not sure why this happened or how to fix it. Any suggestions on how to remove the sticky patches and correct my mistake?

It seems like you waited too long to wipe off the excess. Try using mineral spirits and steel wool on the sticky spots to remove them.
