Why does my freshly painted door look shiny and streaky after applying the second layer, and what can I do to correct it?

Be patient and allow it to dry for a couple of days before proceeding.
Ny Pearce sounds good, hopefully!
Osman what materials did you use?
Ny Pearce
Osman was it really hot when you were painting?
Ny Pearce it was warm in the evenings but there was shade for a bit
If the weather suddenly got hot while you were painting, it can cause some nerves but try to stay calm and work through it patiently.
Consider painting in the evenings when the temperature is cooler to avoid the paint drying too quickly and leaving brush marks.
Hey Osman, here’s a tip: when painting a door, try opening it fully and sealing off the doorway so the door can stay in a cooler environment while you work on it.
Just wondering, did you use a roller for this project?
Hey, , yeah
Hey, Osman, you should have used a brush while the paint was still wet. Make sure to go with the grain.
Hey, Osman, it’s best to avoid rolling doors.
Hey, Osman, if you try to roll over partially dry areas, you’ll end up with roller marks. It’s best to paint on a cloudy day or when the door isn’t in direct sunlight.
Hey, , I’m always painting doors with a brush and roller.

Whenever I paint doors, I always mix in some floetrol to ensure a smoother and more even finish. You can find it here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Flood-Floetrol-1-qt-Clear-Latex-Paint-Additive-FLD6-04/100198078
If the door was painted and exposed to direct sunlight shortly after, it may have gotten too hot and caused flashing. Make sure to paint it away from direct sunlight.
Sure thing, !
Keep in mind that outdoor paint typically takes around a month to fully cure. The appearance of the paint could be affected by various factors such as sun exposure, temperature, painting technique, or a dirty surface.
To really get the best results, it’s important to understand your painting process. Did you just haphazardly apply some paint, or did you take the time to properly sand, clean, prime, and paint with precision? Also, make sure you’re using a high-quality brush and painting in the right conditions – not under direct sun. In my opinion, it seems like you may have painted in direct sunlight or when the door was too hot, causing the paint to dry too quickly and show brush marks.
For the best results, remove the door and paint it flat in your garage away from direct sunlight. Consider using an additive for a smoother finish.
In my opinion, I don’t think black doors are a good idea because they absorb heat and could potentially void the door’s warranty.
Len Runyon yeah they definitely don’t offer black doors for sale haha
Taking the door off and painting it in a shady area is a good plan. Avoid using black paint. I agree about using Floetrol, and I prefer using a foam brush for a smooth finish.
Starting over might be a good idea. Try taking the door off, cleaning all the hardware, then sanding and priming it well. I also recommend Floetrol.
Was spray paint used for this?
I painted it with a brush and waited for it to dry. I worked on it around 11 am when the sun was out.
I rolled it and then made sure to use a brush for the crevices.
Ive it a few days to see if it improves. If not, lightly sand it down and apply another coat. Just remember to paint in small sections to avoid going over partially dried areas. I had a similar experience with my double doors, and it was quite a hassle.
After waiting for 2 days, if the door still looks the same, here’s a simple solution: Use 220 grit purple sandpaper to sand it down, then apply snapdry paint. Make sure to dust off any residue before painting the rectangles and moving on to the window and other sections.
Reat response, ! 👏👏👏
For the best results, did you consider using matte black or blackboard paint with a dark grey undercoat and high gloss top coat? It’s a simple process.
Before anything else, did you make sure to prime the door?
We mentioned before that black is the most challenging color to work with because it shows every brush stroke. As a professional painter, I always try to avoid painting shiny black or red doors.
I’m really sorry, but that looks awful.
