Why did the landlord choose to completely renovate the washroom instead of just repairing the tub and wall due to damages left by bad tenants?

Hey, just wanted to share a little update on this post from way back in June! Looks like the admins finally gave it the green light.
For those wondering, instead of just fixing up the tub and wall like I initially planned, I ended up completely renovating the whole bathroom. The previous tenants did a number on it, so I felt like it was the right call. Plus, I lucked out and found a steel tub on sale for just $199!
Check out these shocking before and after pics – you won’t believe the difference. Let me know what you think!
What’s the problem with it?
If you’re only concerned about the stains, you could consider refinishing it. I bet there are kits available for you to try it on your own. Upgrading the hardware will give you a tub that feels brand new!
You could try using kits or hiring a professional to reglaze it
I’m having trouble figuring out what’s wrong with it.
Based on how it appears, it seems like it needs to be replaced. I wouldn’t feel comfortable taking a bath in there.
A thorough scrub, reglazing, and recaulking would do wonders.
Toilet bowl cleaner
Hey, it seems like it could use a nice cleaning and some new metal hardware components, along with scraping and cleaning the old caulk lines before recaulking. But overall, it appears to be a solid cast iron tub, unless there’s noticeable chipping or scratching that’s not easily visible in the photo.
This post has been sitting around since June, but the admins finally approved it! For those who were wondering, here’s an update.
Since June? Haha. Great work, but I was going to mention that the floor seemed to sag before and suggest looking into it, but I guess everything’s fine now.
Everything’s been good since June! Completely renovated the entire bathroom – you should see the before pictures; it was so gross that no one else would want to move in!!
Did a really great job. Just remember to apply tile sealer to the grout lines on your new tile multiple times, letting it dry in between each application, until the grout stops absorbing more sealer. This is especially important for rentals where the space isn’t frequently used, and it will help extend the lifespan of the tile and grout.
Great work, Toni! 👏👏 Keep it up!
Hey Kevyn, what should I do if the grout is already chipping? Do I need to remove it and start fresh, or can I just add more on top?
Great
Did you flip the door around?
Hey , which door are you referring to? I’m a bit confused by your question.
Hey , if you’re talking about the interior door, it’s actually identical – I just gave it a fresh coat of white paint to liven up the bathroom and create a cohesive look. Check out this improved photo…
