Milbank 200a. It’s highly unlikely that you can drill holes and still pass inspection. There is also a risk of potential water intrusion too close to live parts.
I do it regularly… I guess it varies depending on your area

Nope. If it doesn’t undergo inspection, but with inspection, the inspector won’t let it slide. You heard? I only use a precise drill bit to make it look nice. Okay. Cheers.

It’s no longer going to be rated 3R. However, most inspectors are not very sharp and might overlook it.

I personally don’t see a problem with it, and I’m sure some inspectors won’t either. I think it’s better to fully secure the meter rather than have it loose because the original holes don’t align. I would suggest drilling precise holes for the screws and adding a bit of silicone, but that’s just to be safe, not really necessary haha

So you want to make modifications to the can to add screws where there aren’t pre-punched holes? That’s a no-go here.

I had to do that earlier since that’s where the beam is. How about surrounding the screws with some silicone instead?

You’re not allowed to do that if you’re on a metered basis

I’ve installed these on metal buildings by using unistrut and cone spring nuts.

I’m not sure where you’re from, but you can’t modify poco equipment here, like drilling your own mounting holes. I’d assume it’s the same nationwide.

Hey, are you planning to use more than 2 screws? Is this meter base approved by your utility provider? Many are now mandating a meter base with lever bypass.

In my 45 years of experience, I’ve done it a few times and no one has mentioned anything yet.
I’ve been advised before that 2 points are the minimum and Knock out are simply holes for a stroke of luck.

Just go ahead, but you’ll need more than 2 screws for sure
On is.gd/qZraZQ
On yes, I’ll also utilize the two current knockouts on the left side. Thank you.
On exactly, might as well include the other two, and I hope there’s termite-infested siding, you know what comes next 😉
Feel free to do it
Just double check that the connectors fit behind the meter and that there’s enough space for the wires to come out

Oops, not in that location!
320 meters?
No sir, it’s actually a 200-meter count issued by Alabama Power.
That’s definitely not a 320-meter count.

A small dab of silicone should be enough to do the trick
Ald Wood if you use unistrut, it’ll hold up just fine and won’t look like a rushed job
I think it would be a good idea to place gasket material behind each hole.
H2O
Feel free to do as you please.

What kind of rural area are you referring to as “here”?
Planning to modify approved equipment? Not happening here on Long Island, NY
Recommends positioning the unistrut behind the base on just one side for a better fit
Talking like he’s straight out of the backwoods. New York. How does moving a hole affect function or positioning?
Hey ald Wood, some people suggest mounting it on kindorf or strut before making modifications to poco equipment
Do you think it’s possible to drive a screw through the back of a PVC LB?
Hey , how does an LB relate to a meter fitting? That argument doesn’t hold up.
I’m a bit confused – why bring up meter fitting when OP clearly indicated new mounting holes for securing the meter pan to the structure?
Also, I mentioned that altering an LB is a no-go…
Hey , when it comes to tweaking poco equipment like drilling your own mounting holes, as requested by OP, here’s some advice
Hey there , just wanted to make sure you didn’t miss the original post…
Is talking nonsense about backwoods. He just further showed how messed up NY is.
Alright buddy, . Have a great night!
Still gives them to ya boy poco, you’re lucky.
What does lenn Mallett provide, exactly?
O ahead and use Zip Ties
‘s response is the only one that’s acceptable.
