Where should the awning window be positioned in relation to the picture window to optimize airflow in a window replacement project?

I’m curious about those awning windows that come with picture windows. I’m thinking of replacing a window and I really want good air circulation, but I’m not sure if the awning should go on the top or bottom. I’ve tried searching online but can’t find any info on this specific setup. Here’s what my current windows look like.
You can swap it out with a single hung window that has a similar appearance to an awning window.
We really need to consider the awning concept so we can keep it open even when it’s raining or windy on that side of the house. I’m just not sure if we should place the awning on the top or bottom when we install a larger picture window that’s slightly bigger than half of the current one for better air circulation.
I’m not certain how easy it would be to open and close at the top.
I’ve never come across a half awning window, but just imagine accidentally walking into it while outside the house.
This window is quite high up.
It might be a challenge to clean the exterior of that.
