What would be a good and affordable paint option for sanding and painting the inside part of a picture to hang on the wall?

I can’t wait to show you the pictures after I finish it!
Do you have any suggestions for what I should hang on my wall?
I’m considering sanding and painting the inside part (as shown in the first picture) and hanging it up, but I’m not sure what color to paint it!
Also, do you know of a good quality paint that won’t break the bank and will work well on wood?
I personally wouldn’t paint it at all. It’s got so much character and definitely has a story to tell.
