What should I use to fill this hole where I suspect something may have taken up residence?

Do you have any ideas for what we should use to fill this hole? I have a feeling something may have taken up residence in there.
Make sure you grab a trap or cage before you start filling it up. Our porch is covered in mesh screen.
Make sure to grab a gutter hose to divert water away from the foundation, fill the hole with screening or crusher dust, and top it off with 6 inches of topsoil.
Grab a couple bags of Sakrete or Quikrete, mix it up nice and wet, pour it in. Use a stick to help consolidate the concrete and fill up the hole. Finish it off with some soil on top.
Mixing cement is important.
I heard that in New York, they use exhaust from a gas engine to peacefully put rats to sleep before sealing up the hole.
