What materials are best for repairing a water main leak that won’t require frequent fixes, especially for underground use?

Hey, so I’ve got a water main leak that needs fixing and I’m not sure what all I need to do it. One side is pex but the other side I’m not certain. What’s the best option for being underground that won’t need fixing again for a long time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
‘t forget to give a plumber a call, mistakes can happen to the best of them. It’s not typical to see 1″ steel pipe, but the original plumber of the building used it because 3/4″ copper was too pricey back then.
It’s probably copper, PVC, or another type of pex. It might be black rolled or something else. Once you find the leak and post pictures, we can offer some assistance unless you’d rather buy for every option.
