I removed that old Romex from my house that was dated back to 1946. That’s when the addition was built. I’m not sure when that type of Romex was first introduced. One time I accidentally drove a nail through a 2×4 in my barn and it heated up, but never tripped a circuit breaker. I immediately removed the nail and rewired the barn with 12-2 uf wire and breakers.

I found some of this in my house built in 1950. I updated the outlets to include grounds. For areas I couldn’t rewire (like ceiling lights), I installed FCI breakers. The wiring is still in good condition
