What is the standard vent placement spacing under a home soffit for a new construction block home in Florida, and is it better to have more vents for better airflow?

Do you know if there’s a usual spacing for vent placement under a home’s soffit? I’m working on putting up some hardi soffit on a new block home in Florida and I’m not sure how far apart they should be. Should I go with the more the better for airflow, or is there a standard rule of thumb?

Have you considered using perforated hardee for complete ventilation? It provides 100% airflow.

Ray Turner

The recommended ventilation ratio is 1 square foot for every 150 square feet of attic space, with half on the top roof and half in the soffits. So, your answer is 0.5 square feet per 150 square feet of attic space.

Dana Schmidt

We opted for the perforated Hardy Board for ventilation in the attic, and it has significantly improved airflow.
