Hey, does anyone know what this type of ceiling texture is called and how I can recreate it?
My guess is it was done using one of these brushes. Play around with the thickness of the mud to get it as close as possible to the original look.
Seems like a light crows foot texture. Also known as a stomp texture. Dave mentioned it’s the right brush to use. There are plenty of YouTube tutorials on how to achieve it.
And
Thanks to both of you! I was thinking the same thing but they must have altered the angles significantly to add more diversity instead of appearing monotonous
They simply used a roller to apply it.
Just a typical wall paint roller. I mixed drywall compound with some water and applied it like regular paint.
That could be. Just to give you some background, there were many sharp peaks initially, so I decided to use a scraper to create a smoother finish. The texture isn’t consistent across the entire ceiling, which is why I’m unsure.
I have some extra drywall in the garage, so I might try out both techniques to see which one looks better
Oh yeah, when you press the ceiling with the brush, make sure to twist it in random patterns for a more blended look. Once it dries, gently scrape it with a 12-inch metal mud scraper to smooth out the sharp points. There are many variations you can try, and there are plenty of tutorial videos on YouTube. I would suggest spending a couple of hours watching them. This texture is quite simple to create and blend in, especially for patchwork. My top tips would be to soak the brush in warm water before use, thin out the mud with plenty of water, and remember that it will look more defined once it’s dry and painted.
I completed the entire house
Now you understand that it was applied with a paint roller. There’s no consistency in the outcome.
Roller
Michael and David are right, they also create a dual crow’s foot brush
When using a crow’s foot brush, just turn it 1/4 each time as you push it towards the ceiling. It’s very straightforward and simple. I’ve done it many times.
Seems like they used a stipple brush texture applied with a roller.
