What’s the best way to remove paint from a wall? Especially when there are multiple layers inside.
Consider removing the old wallboard and installing new ones. Otherwise, you might end up using a lot of chemicals or spending a significant amount of time sanding.
Is it necessary to prime before painting over? I remember having a dark purple room and it took 3 coats of primer. But it was still cheaper than replacing the drywall.
The paint on ‘s wall is starting to peel.
Hey Dustin, just wanted to give you a heads up that the paint on it is peeling and looks like there are about 10 layers.
Wishing you good luck… you can always paint over it if you don’t like the color 👍
I would love to help, but the previous homeowners really did a number on the walls. The paint is peeling like crazy, even with just trying to clean it with water and soap! There must be at least ten layers of paint on there.
You can’t get rid of paint from walls. Just take down the drywall or put another layer on top.
Hey , it looks like there are about 10 layers that are all peeling off.
Hey , you have a few options – you could cover it with 1/4″ drywall or go all out and replace the entire wall. Another idea is to create a pallette wall or a shiplap style wall. You could also have texture put over it, although I’m not a fan of that. That paint isn’t going to come off easily.
Apply primer and paint
I’ll put on a skim coat, paint the walls, and switch out the molding.
So first I scrape, smooth out with drywall mud, sand, prime, and then paint.
Sand down, get it ready for paint.
If there are scrapes or marks, you can easily remove them, then apply primer and paint over
At the end of the day, how much is your time and money worth to you? It’s easier (and cheaper and safer and smarter) to replace the drywall, put in new, and then paint. But ultimately, it’s up to you.
I have plenty of time, but not a whole lot of money. We are thinking about expanding our kitchen further, but that’s a few years away. The way the painting was executed was terrible and it’s setting off my OCD
Resembles a cupboard rather than a wall?
Hey , I see what you mean. I can snap a picture of the wall for you.
Try painting over it, haha
Add 1/4 inch wallboard
