What is the most effective method for painting the exterior of a house – sanding before painting or another technique?

Hey there, I’m looking to freshen up the outside of my house with some new paint. I was thinking about sanding the wood before painting. Do you have any recommendations on the best method to use, or what do you typically do?
Pressure wash the surface, then give a good scrub to any areas that are still dirty. Fill in any holes or gaps with caulk. Sanding is only necessary if you had to make repairs.

We always begin by pressure washing the surface. Next, we make sure to cover up all the windows and any other areas that won’t be painted. Then, two coats of paint are sprayed onto the body. After that, we remove all the coverings and use brushes and rollers to paint the trim. If you’re not using a sprayer, just power wash the surface first, wait two days, then roll on the body paint before finishing with the trim.
