Consider using self-leveling mortar for your project

Tristan Larsen

Fix raised areas or squeaky spots by screwing them down. If necessary, use self-leveling compound. What is your end goal? If you’re installing tile, you have some flexibility

I’ve worked on raising a few houses. It really varies depending on which part of the house we’re talking about. I even went as far as removing subflooring and leveling a third floor with 2x6s screwed and glued to the joists because there was a 2-inch sag. Funny enough, after completing the job, I discovered the cause for the 2-inch drop, but there was no way to fix it at that stage! Moral of the story: Be careful who you hire to work on a million-dollar home! The issue was actually caused by the kitchen remodel she had done.

I mean supported and in good shape, not completely ruined haha for those curious. I’m a professional hahaha

Use floor leveler to even out the surface

I opted for the leveling material from Lowe’s. I secured screws while checking for level in the low areas so I would know when I had poured enough.

Hey Kevin s, did you apply primer?

Benji Kuilder

Yes, Matthew Francis Murphy, it was white when applied but dried clear.

Seal the seams with caulk. Use spray foam on the edges, prime the floor, I prefer to mix all of my self-leveler at the same time and pour it out as fast as I can. I have a unique tool to disrupt the surface tension, but I have also used a garden rake in the past when I forgot it.

I’m not sure where you’re located, but using osb as subflooring isn’t ideal, especially if you plan on tiling. Personally, I would remove it all and reinforce the beams by adding 2 by 6 boards alongside them before leveling it properly with plywood. It seems like a previous remodel might have caused this issue with unevenness. You could try investigating from below if possible.

Kevin s, that’s right!

This bathroom had been remodeled 3 times before me and was a disaster

How unlevel is it? I usually fix that by adding layers of plywood, with the thickest one on top – for me, that’s 3/4 inch thick.

C4?
