What is the best way to secure a dishwasher – to the countertop or the sides of the cabinets – considering future changes and limitations?
Hey there! Quick question for you all about securing our dishwasher. So, when they put in our new quartzite countertop, it seems like they forgot to secure the dishwasher. Now we’re trying to decide between attaching it to the countertop or the sides of the cabinets. Any thoughts on which option might be best to avoid damage and allow for future changes to the dishwasher?
Oh, and just a heads up – installing a bracket isn’t an option because apparently the wooden floors are blocking the dishwasher from being rolled out. The fabricator and contractor mentioned that removing some floorboards would be necessary to make it happen, so that’s a no-go.
We’re a bit clueless when it comes to renovations and remodeling, so any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance! 😅
My dishwasher isn’t anchored to anything. We just need to make sure the bottom rack is fully in place when we pull out the top one to unload it. It might tilt a bit, but it won’t tip over because the countertop stops it from lifting too high.
Our dishwasher was unattached for years until recently. My husband got brackets from Amazon and installed them on the sides. He was worried about damaging the quartz countertop. Even though the dishwasher still worked fine when unattached, it was frustrating because it would tilt forward slightly while loading and unloading, causing the top rack to slide out on its own. But now the problem is solved!
Have you had any problems with the dishwasher since you secured it on the brackets, ?
I’ll take care of the sides… they’re working well. I think they’ll need to remove the flooring in front since it doesn’t extend under the dishwasher.
Last summer, we renovated our kitchen and my son pitched in to install it along the sides. I definitely wasn’t going to risk damaging my quartz countertops!
