Man, I didn’t even need to look at his profile – his caption says it all. It’s just so ignorant to assume that a store owner has all the necessary tools and skills to run their own conduit. And then to bring up his ethnicity as if it’s relevant, come on.
It’s actually quite intriguing because I doubt the person knew that, they were simply being discriminatory towards someone’s religious beliefs instead of being racist.

It’s easier to point fingers at a whole race than at an individual you’re not familiar with. Kills two birds with one stone. Oh, don’t even get me started on Texas, they can’t even keep the power on in the winter.

I have to confess, I’m not too familiar with the rules for fuel stations, but I do deal with Section 500 of the NEC for manufacturing facilities. The ethnicity or religion of the station owner doesn’t matter – the AHJ will either approve or shut them down regardless.
Any ideas on the area classification? Is the pump considered a point source with a specific radius that needs protection according to NEC 500?
It looks like there’s a seal preventing vapors (assuming Class I) from entering the conduit under the pump. The above-ground conduit should be in a non-hazardous area, since it’s outside and well-ventilated. I’m making a lot of assumptions here, but from what I see, everything looks good.
Now let’s talk a bit about Hinduism. It’s not a person or a place, but a religion. In the United States alone, there are nearly 3.3 million people who practice Hinduism.
No matter the gender, ethnicity, or religious beliefs, I haven’t met a customer yet who doesn’t want a job done quickly and affordably. But they often forget to mention they want it done correctly too.
During my time in retail, I noticed that customers from the Indian subcontinent often like to haggle. It seemed to be a cultural norm for them. Starting with a higher price allowed room for negotiation, and they seemed more satisfied with their purchase. It wasn’t just what I said, but how I said it that made a difference.

If the gas station was owned by a middle-aged white man, would it be necessary to point out? Or is it only this particular identity that’s worth mentioning? đ€Šââïž
Just wanted to mention that some people are making a bigger deal out of it than necessary. Personally, I still find the drain clean out on the conduit pretty funny đ.
Willy eezer The material at the base consists of explosion proof conduit with airtight seals, which is necessary for connecting gas pumps and fuel equipment. Then it transitions to a standard junction box and regular emt conduit.
It contains a conduit seal and explosion proof components within its 18″ boundary.

I sense there might be some non-electricians commenting on this post. Emotions should be left with hair products on the counter in the morning before heading to work. Emotions were never part of my tool kit.

I became a member of this FakeBook Page a month back and it has been quite disappointing. It feels like a HOME DEPOT 1st Session Training Class every day.

Seems like the horizontal measurement is over 18″, but the vertical measurement seems shorter.

The junction box could probably be improved, but as long as the sealant is poured correctly, it might not be as bad as it seems.
Sweet. This guy needed a sealing fitting at least 18â above ground level. The Class I Division II zone extends to 18â high within a 20ft radius from the dispenser’s center. Be careful not to trip while walking to the dispenser to get your receipt because the printer might not be working there. đ

Seems like they misplaced the original pipe in the concrete.
Can you believe people using explosion proof fittings, rigid conduit, and EMT. What’s going on?
Send it over! rabbing fuel there in the morning. Haha.
Not the best I’ve witnessed
He’s suggesting we just work with what’s available instead of spending too much
It works in India, so it should work in the USA too.
Just wondering why does the owner’s race make a difference? I highly doubt the owner personally installed that.
Seems legit. He’s an angry middle-aged white guy đ€Ą.
Is the one you’re talking about? I’m curious how many posts there are about finding things at gas stations owned by white guys.
Man, I didn’t even need to look at his profile – his caption says it all. It’s just so ignorant to assume that a store owner has all the necessary tools and skills to run their own conduit. And then to bring up his ethnicity as if it’s relevant, come on.
Why does race or ownership even come into play here? The focus should be on holding the contractor accountable for the work they did.
For sure. I bet this guy says âI’m not racist, butâŠâ all the time.
I think he takes pride in it, he even wears his Klan hood to work.
Maybe it’s because the rules vary…
What specific rules are you referring to?
Also, Hinduism isn’t about race, it’s a religion…
That doesn’t matter either way
It’s actually quite intriguing because I doubt the person knew that, they were simply being discriminatory towards someone’s religious beliefs instead of being racist.
Yes, sir!
Said exactly what I was thinking.
Hindu is not defined by race…

I feel like most people would find it odd and unnecessary. They should be pointing that out at this moment.

Can’t recall if Class 1 only goes up to 1 foot high or 1 meter near the gas pump.
Darn Hindus
I bet OP kicks off his “black” jokes with this.
So he doesn’t pay for gas and then just turns on the pump
How deep is that box to the bottom?

Isn’t that box placed too close to the gas station?
I notice the airtight seals down low, but it seems like EMT goes into the top of the junction box.
