Hey, I just had to show you this cool kitchen makeover I did. I decided to DIY a concrete and epoxy countertop to save some serious cash. How’s it look to you? 😃
Oh, this is absolutely amazing – well done.
Nice work! It looks fantastic!
So, what did you do about the outer edge?
Used self-leveling concrete without an edger, just a wooden form for the shape
Wow, do you think the concrete will crack easily?
I did this a couple of years ago like you, , and it held up well with the epoxy. If I were to do it again, I might consider adding a wire mesh for extra reinforcement.
Those veining lines look really amazing!
To me, it appears to be quartz. Well done!
Our quartz counters seem to have cost us $4500! You did a fantastic job!
I’m feeling a bit anxious about doing this, but it’s exactly what I need to do! Can you tell me how much it cost you in total? And was it really challenging?
Spent $700 on it. I got self-leveling concrete, wood for the form, concrete primer, concrete paint, and epoxy. The epoxy was the priciest part and a bit tricky to work with, gotta follow the instructions on the volume for mixing it properly. Also, use a squeegee to spread it evenly, take your time. And a heat gun helps with the bubbles. One thing I regret not doing is adding polyurethane on top of the epoxy once it dried, since epoxy tends to yellow and stain easily
Reat job!
