What could be causing the rapid descent of the flapper, and would replacing it solve the problem?

Any idea why the toilet is flushing so quickly? Do you think replacing the flapper would solve the problem?

Maybe that large yellow counterweight is trying to tell you something

Oh, that’s the float – I picked up a new flapper so hopefully that does the trick

Switched out the entire flowmaster and the flapper for under 40 dollars total

I’m not entirely sure, but that toilet looks pretty outdated. I think it’s time for a replacement.

The float is all messed up, let’s switch it out with an OEM flapper.

If your flapper is acting up because of hard water buildup, get a bottle of CLR. Pour half down the overflow tube and the rest in the tank. Let it sit for an hour before flushing.

I used to try and fix old toilets. Trust me, not worth the hassle. A new toilet costs around 100 dollars and comes with all the installation parts you need.

The chain is giving me a headache… and the tank needs more water

Switch out the entire ‘guts’. It’s affordable enough…it might be annoying but basically a new toilet once it’s done.
