What color should we paint the bathroom that is both kid-friendly and modern, considering warm and cool tones, while keeping in mind new white cabinets and counters?

Hey everyone, what color should we paint the bathroom? I’m trying to decide on a color for our hall bath, which is also used by our kids, aged 14 and 4. I usually lean towards warm tones, but I’m open to cool tones as well. I’m just not sure what the popular bathroom colors are these days. I don’t want anything too plain like white, or too bold like pink. We’re also planning on installing new cabinets and counters, most likely white. What do you all think?
How about a subtle sage green or a delicate duck egg blue?
A lot of people really like using sea salt as a paint choice
Ocean salt is currently up on the wall with a sample and it appears light blue with our lighting.
Oh dear! I experienced the same thing with Silver Lake 😅
Changing out the bulbs is a breeze! While my tile appeared grayish in the store, it looked brownish in my home. When my kidlet switched the bulbs to daylight, the tile instantly appeared gray again. However, it made my kitchen feel like a dental office. I decided to keep the tiles looking brownish for a cozier vibe with warmer bulbs.
I heard that the new color for 2024 is Peach fuzz.
Is definitely not a fan of peach, that’s for sure lol
The three colors you swatched on the wall look amazing! My house is completely grey since it was painted by the previous owners. I painted my office a similar shade to the first one you showed me and I absolutely adore it. It goes perfectly with my yellow, white, and grey decor.

Darla Nicole we don’t really like any of the 3 colors on the walls. They’re too blue.
Painted the living room of my previous house a light blue – blue brings happiness 😃 I prefer sea foam green colors because they give me beachy vibes 🏝️ Choosing paint colors can be challenging…good luck!
Hey Darla Nicole, even though we live in Florida and don’t like the beach, we’re actually mountain people who love green hues. However, we’re not planning to stay here forever and never paint again, so I’m looking for colors that we can enjoy but that will also appeal to others when we decide to sell. I know, I can be a bit complicated like that
Hey , if you want a color that will appeal to potential buyers when you sell your house, it’s best to stick with neutral tones like white, gray, and tan/cream. I’ve heard that gray is no longer popular and brown is making a comeback…I used soft colors in my last home but was still advised to repaint everything in white…
If you’re a fan of greens, the sage green is a nice, subtle color…that’s the color palette I chose for my bedroom
If you’re in search of a soft, neutral wall color that complements your current tile, you might want to consider Benjamin Moore’s Edgecomb Gray, Pale Oak, or Balboa Mist. A grey-green shade could also work well if you’re looking to add a touch of color.
I was considering gray initially, but I don’t think it will complement the floor. I’m starting to prefer green. https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/color/cw-515/sea-green
I was thinking about going for a soft green shade.
I’m a fan of Sage Green

Hey , what’s the name of this color? I really like it!
Hey , that’s actually the exact same color we used!
Hey, ! Sorry, I can’t recall the name of it. It’s been quite a while since we redid that bathroom. The color is really nice though. One tip I can give you is to make sure you clean the walls thoroughly before painting, even if you’re using a primer. We had some surfactant leaching issues after repainting and it was a bit of a hassle to fix. The paint brand I used was Benjamin Moore.
I just finished renovating my master bathroom! I painted the walls a calming gray and added bright white trim and a vanity. I incorporated light yellow accents with rugs and towels, and chose black hardware. The tiles are oversized white with gray streaks running through them, and the floors are gray stone – large tiles on the floor and small ones in the shower.
I absolutely love Sea Salt!
Floor
Really stands out, I’m absolutely loving this ceramic tile 🩵
Nope, but the walls were. The tiles on the shower floor were smaller pieces of the same stone.
The floor has a bit of texture to it and I really like that.
Oh wow! Can I ask what type of flooring it is?
I like to paint everything white so I can switch up the colors often – like rugs, towels, shower curtain, pictures. It’s just my preference! 🤷♀️
I faced a similar dilemma. Ultimately, I went with Sherwin Williams Alpaca for a safe option, but now I’m considering adding some color. I’m just unsure whether to go bold with the vanity or the walls.
Alpacas are so fascinating! Did you know they can be found in 22 different colors? 🤷🏼♀️
Prefers not Sherwin Williams’ 🤣 Their selection only includes greige 🤣
These are the different colors we decided on for our ensuite
I think it would be best to consider the color of the cabinets/countertops you choose. Personally, I believe it’s more important to choose a color that I personally like rather than following trends, especially in a bathroom since they can be easily repainted. Many paint stores offer virtual tools that allow you to preview the color on your walls before making a decision.
‘s cabinets will be white and the countertops will be TBD lol I’m no designer at all. We’re not planning on staying here for more than 3-5 years if we can help it, so we’re choosing things that are popular for when we eventually sell. We really dislike painting, so whatever we do paint will be here when we sell.

Does it depend on your decor?
Is flexible with changing decor to match the surroundings. The white floating shelves above the toilet are usually adorned with fake plants and candles.
What about a Beige Gray to complement the tile?
Matte black
A gentle sage green
When applying makeup in that lighting, steer clear of yellow hues and undertones as they can give a sallow and pale appearance to the skin.
Sherwin Williams’ Acacia Haze is a gorgeous shade of green. It looks amazing in my bathroom with white accents, a gray floor, and dark brown shower tile and rugs.
I also have it in our half bathroom, and I absolutely love it. – Kline
How about an olive green for a nice touch?
Lovely soft powder blue. A very pale shade of blue
Everything that was old is now new again…🤷♀️
Any color that makes you feel good is perfect. Just switch up the towel color, mat, and shower curtain to coordinate. I chose a flat Grey paint with an anti-mildew additive. The trim is still semi-gloss white.
Light gray seems to be a favorite choice in this area.

Pro tip for life: Try working backwards on this one.
Head over to your nearby WalMart, Target, or wherever you usually go to buy towels, bath rugs, etc. Check out the color options, choose something you fancy, and then find paint that goes well with it.
We used to do it the other way around, and after getting attached to a paint color, we discovered that no one had matching accessories in that particular color scheme.
Null
I have a yellow one and a lilac one.
Blue
Muted blues are my favorite choice for bathrooms
How about painting the walls white and adding color with towels, rugs, art, or a shower curtain?
I prefer to keep my bathrooms white because that’s where I do my makeup and need to see the true final look. I like to incorporate color through towels and decor, while keeping the walls white to ensure my makeup isn’t affected by any hues on the walls.
Hey Carmen, just a heads up that this is the hall bath, so we don’t do our makeup in here.
My daughter Brittany and her husband are still living at home while they save up for their own place. I envision a soft, light blue color for their future room.
Feel free to pick anything, just keep it in the realm of very light pastel tones.
Encourage your children to choose! It will make them feel really proud. Maybe the 14-year-old can join in on the painting, too.
Since we’re planning to sell in a few years, we should choose colors that appeal to others as well. My kids might go for baby blue, but that’s definitely not happening!
Personally, I think white, light beige, or grey would be the way to go.
I went with a Sage green feature wall and vanilla paste for the other walls. It looks fantastic.
It’s all about the paint! If you’re not loving the current color, no problem – just repaint in a different hue! There are countless colors to choose from that can really liven up the space. Take a look at some artwork you love or browse through store displays for towels that catch your eye for some inspiration. Whether you’re into the classic beige, soothing sea salt, or elegant light French grey, there’s also a beautiful array of blues and greens to consider… it all depends on the vibe you’re aiming for!
