What challenges have you faced in renovating your quirky cottage from the 50s, and what historical features have you discovered?

Thanks for including me in the group! We’ve been tackling a bunch of issues with our new cottage, so if you have any questions or want to bounce ideas off me, just let me know!
We bought this quirky old cottage back in 2022, and it had been heavily modernized and extended in the 50s. Unfortunately, a lot of problems popped up, like dampness, due to all the walls being encased in concrete inside and out. We’re slowly fixing that up!
The previous owner built a big extension at the back of the house but never got around to updating the front. We’ve been working on some of the rooms, but there’s still a ton of work left to do, including the garden, which is just over half an acre.
There’s a history of a cottage on this site dating back to the 1860s, and we’ve noticed some features that make us think some of the rooms may have been part of the original tiny cottage! 🏠🌳
By the way, we haven’t gotten around to decorating the back lounge yet (the one with the Christmas tree in the photo). I absolutely can’t stand the blue tiles! But the room is liv
