What are your thoughts on using plywood to attach a giant mural wallpaper to textured walls in California for a 1yo’s room?

Hey, quick question about wallpaper. I’m in the process of decorating my grandson’s room, and I have this idea to put up a big mural on one of the walls. The walls here in California have a lot of texture, so I’m thinking of using peel and stick wallpaper. I also want to be able to easily remove it when he’s older and no longer into jungle themes. My plan is to apply the wallpaper onto large pieces of plywood (making sure the seam is hidden), and then attach the plywood to the wall. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Seems like it would be less work than skim coating the wall. I believe you’ll need to prime and paint the plywood first for the peel and stick wallpaper to stick properly.
My mom did something like that to my room when I was younger… big sheets of plywood on the bottom half of the wall (like wainscoting) painted with blackboard paint. I thought it was great! And when I outgrew it, it was simple to take down and patch a few holes. I don’t see why your plan wouldn’t be successful!
I suggest using 1/4 inch Masonite for the project.
One trick is to hang liner paper on the walls before painting the mural. It’s a common technique used by professionals.
That’s a great idea! Just make sure to limit the number of attachment points, as fixing the texture can be challenging.
