What are your thoughts on painting furniture – worth the effort or not?

Has anyone tried their hand at painting furniture? If so, what are your thoughts on the process?
Yes, I recently painted an old leather chair and ottoman. I used a mixture of acrylic paint and fabric medium in equal parts, and I was really pleased with how they turned out. They’ve lasted for a few more years and still look great.
Does it hold up without cracking from regular use?
The fabric medium helps it remain flexible.
Did it turn out crunchy? I’ve been contemplating doing this to my red sofa. It’s been sitting in a sunroom for years and has faded quite a bit.
Nope, it wasn’t crispy. Like I mentioned before, it was a mix of acrylic paint and fabric medium.
I’ve seen a couple of videos where they apply it in a circular motion with a special brush, but I’m hesitant to take the plunge! Haha, was it a quick and easy process or quite laborious?
