Was the lock on the floor damaged or not laid down properly?

So, do you think the lock on the ground might be broken? Or was it just not placed correctly?
Excuse me?
The installation wasn’t done correctly.
First, attempt to clean out the joint and gently pry them back together from the wall. You may want to apply a small amount of glue before rejoining to ensure they are sealed properly.
A damaged black plank appears as if the click lock has bent. The red one either doesn’t fit together or has come apart over time.
Mentioned that the red could be touched up with a colored marker for appearance (but may not solve the gap problem, so unsure how it will hold up over time). I also have the same issue with some of my vinyl planks. How can it be easily fixed for looks?
Switched from using a plank for the black unfortunately. I think using a crayon cosmetically is a good idea since it’s wax-based for the red area if you can’t easily replace the flooring.
(in black), changing that plank doesn’t seem like a straightforward task considering all the planks are connected to each other.
Hey there! I’ve actually done some repairs using flex adhesive as an alternative to pulling the flooring back from the wall and relaying it.

Got it, I suppose I’ll have to search online for tutorials and maybe add that to my list of things to do.
I don’t mind it, I end up doing repairs more often than I expected instead of floor installations, and it usually costs around $400 per repair. I recommend checking out YouTube or doing a quick Google search.
Tapping them together too hard can damage the edges
Poor installation
Installing flooring is always such a hassle, I think I’ll hire a professional next time.
I hired a professional to do it and my floor still looks like this after paying $5000 😂
Haha, Levi, okay. I feel better about myself now. Thank you! 😆
If I had the time, I would have done it myself. Such a waste of money.
Hey Levi, how long did it take for yours to do that?
Niesha Fuentes mentioned it’s been 3 days.
This issue commonly occurs with floating floors and can be easily fixed
I appreciate all the suggestions, but I think the issue was caused by curling which put too much pressure on it. I have a professional coming to take a look, and that’s what they think too.
If your floor is starting to curl, it could be due to moisture coming from the slab. I agree with Chris, the black circle is damaged because that particular piece wasn’t placed correctly on either end, causing the short side to not engage properly and breaking the end.
My floor above a basement is experiencing a lot of curling. An inspector suspects it may be due to poor installation or a defect.
Did you lay it over a concrete surface? And was a vapor barrier used under the LVP?
Mentioned it was from a company, and I’m in the process of getting them to honor the warranty.
Typically, with resilient flooring failures, it’s often due to installation mistakes rather than the quality of the product. I hope they address the issue for you
Thank you, I did invest a significant amount of money
We had a similar experience. We followed all the installation steps correctly, my husband is in the construction business. Unfortunately, the LifeProof flooring from Home Depot turned out to be poor quality.
Oh no, can you tell me what led to this? I used the same material for my entire furnished basement, thinking the consistent temperatures would prevent this.
Did you go with vinyl? We’re also redoing the floors in our basement.
I’m not sure. And it seems to be deteriorating over time. The seams look okay, but the ends are starting to crack.
LVP is generally of poor quality.
The movement of weather can also make planks shift or expand. I can’t stand lvp! It’s the worst type of flooring ever created.
Sounds like a pressure problem, maybe from hammering the planks too hard at the edge
Just fixed it up with some flooring caulk

I hit it too hard while installing, and there’s really no way to fix it without replacing that board.
I’ve glued it down and have had no problems so far. I used to hate clipping it in before.
The one next to it got damaged, so it won’t fit correctly now.
When you wash it with too much water… it starts to swell.
