Struggling to find replacements for odd-shaped ceiling registers painted with latex – any tips for removing the paint from aluminum?

Hey DIY pals! I’m working on fixing up a mid-century modern home, and I’m struggling to find replacement ceiling registers for some odd-shaped ones. The original ones are in rough shape from being painted with latex paint.

I’m thinking if I can get the latex paint off, I can spray paint them and they’ll be good as new. Any tips on removing latex paint from aluminum?

Using aircraft stripper will strip them down to the bare metal. Make sure to prime with an etching primer before painting.
