Should we cover the old ceiling with 1×6 pine in our prefab house renovation, despite already installing celotex and furring straps screwed into the rafters?

We’re in the middle of sprucing up our kitchen/dining/living space in our prefab home. My husband is thinking about just covering up the current ceiling. We have some 1×6″ pine that he plans to use. He already put celotex on the ceiling and attached furring straps over it, screwing them into the rafters. Next step is nailing the pine to the furring strips. What do you think, does this plan sound good to you?
Seems like it’s going well, just let him work his magic
What kind of material are the rafters made of?
The main thing to figure out is if the furring strips are level enough to keep the pine boards from looking wavy when they’re nailed in. When I was working with cedar tongue and groove, the trickiest part was getting all the stringers it was connected to perfectly aligned with the ceiling. This was because the rafters weren’t perfectly lined up, so I had to use a laser level and a straight edge to make sure everything was on the same plane.
