When you explain to the customer that it’s equivalent to powering 15-100 watt bulbs and they can be very hazardous, the customer responds, ‘No, they don’t use that much power and they’re safe.’

Why did both outlets burn out? Were they both in use?
14 gauge wiring from the 1950s on a 30 amp breaker, and they did the same to an outlet on the opposite side of the room as well, the parents left their 18-year-old daughter home alone for 2 weeks while on vacation. The mother mentioned she instructed her daughter not to use space heaters 🤔 that’s the information I received, when I explained the situation
Definitely, they ran the wires directly into the wall, fortunately when I removed the cover all the insides were melted out so it couldn’t handle the load anymore, I should have mentioned that in the post, I took a short video, it was incredible. (Hey, the breaker keeps tripping) (maybe we should upgrade it to a 30 amp) oh no
There are a lot of really old houses with plenty of baseboards, boilers, and wood stoves. Nowadays we’re only being called for heat pumps every other day

Could it be Zinsco Breakers?

Highly unlikely to occur with a 12 gauge wire

Laughing because it was plugged into the wrong outlet 🤣
The till melted so there was no more connection possible, the outlet internals were destroyed , it’s incredible they didn’t set the whole thing on fire
Taking steps to maintain and prevent issues
49 cents large store outlet

Unlisted that’s a huge yikes

Unlisted yeah wow, I’ve encountered burnt outlets before, but 12 gauge “vintage” wiring on a 30 amp circuit. Ouch.
That’s not caused by a space heater but likely due to a faulty outlet. Investing in better outlets is key.

Sounds like you’re in an area where central heating/cooling is common 😅

Double check the amperage for the next time.
They had a 15 amp circuit on a 30 amp one
Unlisted what caused it to malfunction?

Unlisted why though? Just a faulty switch? Too much amperage for an extended period of time?

Low-quality space heaters
It’s recommended to have a dedicated 20 amp circuit for just one heater.
