Should I use river rocks to landscape the sides of my house without any preparation for erosion?

I’m thinking about landscaping the sides of the house, but I’m worried about the erosion. Do you think it’s best to lay down river rocks, or should I prepare the area with something else first?
Find the root of the erosion problem and address it first. Also, consider burying a pipe to redirect water from the downspout away from your foundation.
Thank you, ! I’ll make sure to inspect the gutters and lengthen the downspout.
I noticed a trail in the soil where water is leaking from the gutter. You should observe it during rainfall to determine how much water is getting behind the gutter. You may need to adjust the drip edge – sometimes bending it outward can ensure water goes into the gutter and not behind it.
Thanks a lot! I’ll start by checking the gutters.
Have you thought about taking a hose up the ladder to see how they are working?
That’s a great suggestion, ! I’ll try extending the downspout while we have a break from rain.
You might want to think about using plastic under the rocks to prevent weeds from growing through.
I placed flattened cardboard boxes under the rocks to prevent weeds. It works really well.
