Should I use a backer rod, can foam, or silicone to fill the gap between the hardwood and drywall in the exterior wall showing cold temperatures?

The thermal camera is picking up some really low temperatures (30F) behind this molding. It’s an outside wall, and there seems to be a decent gap between the hardwood and drywall. The rest of the wall is at a normal temperature of around 60F, while it’s 68F inside.
Do you think I should try cutting a backer rod and stuffing it in there? Or maybe use foam or silicone? On the other side, there is stone work.
Foam in a can might work better than backer rod. backer rod is mainly used to reduce the amount of calking needed. the issue is preventing the canned foam from expanding too much. have you tried duct tape? I’ve used masking tape with gorilla glue before, but I’m not sure how well it insulates. I once stayed in a house in Alaska where the professional builder used foam insulation. maybe try adding foam gradually to avoid excess that needs trimming before caulking (or covering with trim).
I’m a bit lost as to where this is. Is there a reason the trim isn’t covering the exposed edge of the drywall?
We’re not sure if you’re feeling confused. Can you clarify for us?
Using backer rod can assist with any drafts you may be feeling. Head down and insulate the joist space at the rim joist whenever possible
