I recently got a trailer from the year 2000. The wallpaper is starting to peel, and I’m thinking about redoing the walls. Should I tear them down completely, or can I just put up new wallpaper? Any advice or tips would be appreciated!
Since it’s old, I’d suggest removing the walls to inspect the plumbing and electrical systems. Also, look for potential exterior leaks, check the insulation, and seal any openings that mice can use to get inside.
The wood appears to be rotted
It’s not worth trying to salvage the walls in trailer homes. Starting over will result in less time spent on finishing in the long term.
Take it one room at a time. Opening up the walls allows you to check important things like insulation, electrical wiring, and plumbing. ‘t forget to crawl underneath and record a video for future reference.
In a mobile home/trailer, you can use 1/4″ drywall on both walls and ceiling. If the paneling is in good condition but the wallpaper is unsightly, using 1/4″ drywall and painting over it can be a good solution. It seems like there’s more to address than just the wallpaper.
