Should I salvage or tear down the wall in my fixer upper home?

Just moved into this fixer upper and there’s a wall here that the previous owner built. I’m thinking of keeping it, any suggestions on how to save it? Or is it better to tear it down and start fresh? Thanks in advance!

Consider using a sealer paint such as Kilz before painting over it. You may also want to apply some drywall filler and sand those less attractive areas 😎

You can easily sand the wood accent with an orbital sander. Just make sure to do some more sanding and mud work on the drywall. Hold off on painting or priming until the majority of the mud work is completed. Remember not to sand once it’s been painted.

The wall should be skimmed first. Then, sand the board and batten.
