Should I replace my shower handle or cartridge to fix scalding hot water dripping from it?

So, whenever I try to adjust the water temperature in the shower, scorching hot water leaks out from the handle. Do you think I should replace the handle itself, or maybe the cartridge inside? I can show you a pic of the type of handle I have if that helps.

You might want to consider turning the cartridge stem. It’s a 1225 model. You can look up the instructions online. The stem is marked with a notch. Make sure to pay close attention to that detail.
