Should I lay vinyl plank over cement board in my kitchen, or tear it up for tile as originally planned?

So, I was planning on doing tile in the kitchen with cement board underneath, but now I’m considering just using vinyl plank like the rest of the house. Do you think I can just lay the vinyl plank over the cement board, or should I remove it first?
If the height looks good with the vinyl plank down, then you’re good to go.
Absolutely, no problem at all!
If the floor levels are slightly different, don’t worry – there are offset transition strips available to help even out the height.
Just make sure the surface is smooth before laying the floor, because some cement boards have tapered edges that require filling the gaps.
