Should I connect the earth wire of my new ceiling light or leave it tucked into the ceiling like the old one?

I’m thinking about swapping out this super old ceiling light that was here before we moved in. The new one has an earth wire, but the old one didn’t. Should I pull the earth wire out of the ceiling and connect it, or just stick with connecting the live and neutral wires like the old light?
Yes, please connect the ground wire (earth).
