Should I be concerned about the scratched black sealant around my home foundation and do I need to reseal all the parts above grade to the bottom of the siding?

I’ve been seeing these little marks in the black sealant along the foundation of my house. I dug down in one spot to work on a paver base and it seems like the sealant is still good below the ground level. Should I be concerned about the scratched-off parts above ground and reseal them? And if I do, should I seal it all the way up to the bottom of the siding? Just wondering what the usual practice is. Thanks for any advice!

That’s just the mastic, which is a water barrier. You can apply another coat if you want, but it’s not really something to stress over.

Those marks are pretty common from a backhoe operator who may not be the best at their job. They happen when stone is being placed on the drain tile or when the wall is being backfilled. Not a big concern.
