Should I apply multiple layers of Kilz primer before painting my cabinets, or can I just use one layer?

I’m getting ready to paint my cabinets and I picked up some Kilz primer. Should I make sure it’s completely even before I start painting, or can I just slap on one layer and call it good?
It’s a good idea to apply 2 coats first and then add a topcoat. If you haven’t tried Kilz yet, Benjamin Moore has an acrylic bonding primer that works well for this. I used it a couple of years ago and my cabinets still look great!
It usually takes 2 coats of primer to build a good base, and then make sure to sand it flat before applying the topcoat
Make sure you’re using Kilz Original. It’s important that your primer is easy to sand, or else you’ll have a hard time getting a smooth finish. Otherwise, you might end up with a very textured look.
You might want to consider sanding and applying a shellac based primer.
To start, clean the exterior thoroughly, lightly sand with 220 grit sandpaper, and then apply a coat of BIN shellac primer.
