Hey, do you think it’s best to install cabinets in the kitchen before laying down laminate flooring, or should we do it the other way around?
Actually, it’s the opposite. This method results in a polished and professional appearance.
I also just did the same thing like … 🫣 I hope I didn’t mess up.
If you have a floating floor, it’s best not to install it under cabinets. The flooring installation instructions will likely mention this as well.
With laminate flooring, it’s important to remember that it needs to float, so the cabinets shouldn’t be placed directly on top of it. I chose to install my cabinets first.
I just finished putting in both the cabinets and the flooring.
We decided to start by laying the flooring underneath everything, just in case I change my mind about the cabinet placement and decide to remodel them in the future.
For laminate or LVP flooring, it’s best to begin with the cabinets. I recently remodeled my kitchen and chose LVP.
Start with the cabinets if you have vinyl flooring. In more upscale homes, they often do a full kitchen renovation when they want a new look 🙂
Avoid placing floating floors under fixtures to prevent any issues.
It’s important to note that floating floors should not go under cabinets because it restricts expansion.
If you think you may need to replace or fix the flooring at some point, I suggest installing it last. It’s best to avoid having to remove cabinets to repair or replace the flooring.
Put down some plywood under the cabinets (including the dishwasher and stove) that is thick enough to be level with the finished floor.
Put in the cabinets.
Put in the flooring.
