Question: Any suggestions for updating textured Fiberglass Reinforced Panel walls in a newly purchased house without replacing them with new sheetrock?

So, in the new house we bought, the walls are these textured Fiberglass Reinforced Panels that I really can’t stand. Do you know if there’s a way to freshen them up without having to tear them out and replace them with new sheet rock?
Are these panels located in high-traffic or water-prone areas? It might be a good idea to see what’s behind them, as they could be covering drywall. Removing them and doing some patchwork may not be too difficult.
So the house, Michael, is from 1895 and the bathroom was added on, which is where the panels are. Most of the walls have that super thin wallpaper panel situation.
Ah, I see. Unfortunately, I’m not sure of a simple way to update them. Best of luck!
Michael, thank you for your response. I was hoping for a quick solution, but my online searches have been unfruitful. It seems like my only option is to either replace the panels or leave them as they are.
