Is there a better way to secure tack strips to self-leveling cement in my basement without risking cracking or shattering the surface?

I’m thinking about putting in basement carpet next spring. I recently did some interior waterproofing, so now I have fresh cement along the edges with a layer of self leveling cement on top to even it out. My only worry is about nailing tack strips into this cement – I’m afraid it might end up cracking or breaking. Do you know of any other way to secure tack strips without hammering nails into self leveling cement?

I’m curious if a product similar to this one would be effective

Cut the tackstrip into 6-7” sections and secure them in place using construction adhesive, maybe something more reliable than liquid nails. Allow it to set for a day and it should have enough strength to support stretching.

Hey thanks for bringing that up. I’ll look into what could work best. Maybe a type of PL?

Why would you want carpet in a basement or anywhere at all? It’s peel and stick but still…
