Is the tub in my new house salvageable with a refinish or does it need to be replaced due to putty damage?

Hey, so I noticed something in the tub of the house I just purchased. Is this putty? Do you think the tub needs to be replaced, or is there a chance it can be refinished instead?

In my opinion as a realtor, the rust is worrisome. I would consider retiring it, but before that, I suggest contacting a company like Miracle Method for an evaluation – they are highly recommended in my area.

Clean up the area, sand and use either fiber glass or bondo to repair it, sand it smooth, then apply a tub epoxy kit.

Could you share more photos of the area around the tub?

Personally, I believe the best course of action would be to completely remove the tub and surround. It’s hard to predict what issues you may encounter, unfortunately.
