Is the piping under your kitchen sink in good condition or should it be replaced while you’re working on the left pipe’s drain seal?

Hey, take a look at the piping under my kitchen sink. Do you think it’s in good shape, or should I consider replacing it? Right now, I’m working on swapping out the drain seal for the pipe on the left.
Functional as it stands, although there are more efficient methods available that would create extra space. The AAV isn’t coded in the majority, if not all, locations
AAV, which is by , is in compliance with the code in most places
AAV by meets code requirements in most areas
Yep, that’s Swearingen!
You know, , it’s actually an island. The AAC is compliant with the island’s building codes.
That’s sufficient.
It’s all good.
If it’s working, I wouldn’t change anything. It does seem a bit messy.
Make sure to review your local regulations, but international standards permit Air Admittance Valves/Studor vents. These valves can deteriorate over time, so you might want to think about replacing it if it’s old. Overall, I believe this setup is acceptable. The AAV is positioned correctly as it should be.
It’s effective, go ahead and send it.
I would have gone a bit higher myself to make the most of the space available, but there’s no issue with this setup.
What’s up with this plug?
Hey, Kevin s, it seems like they just secured the bottom outlet with tape. What’s all the fuss about?
Oh, I finally spotted it, Swearingen!
Swearingen thought it would be a good idea to cover the exposed outlet near the dishwasher in case of a water leak.
Must have a GFCI.
Mentioned that anything installed prior to the 2020 NEC did not need a GFI for the dishwasher or garbage disposal. The latest NEC now mandates GFI protection when replacing outlets.
When it comes to those drip pans, I’d suggest making a switch.
If I were replacing something under there, I’d trim and elevate it a bit.
It should do the trick. The only adjustment I would recommend is setting your AAV higher than the sink level if you can.
Appears to be in good condition
If it’s functioning properly, then it’s considered good
The drain on the left appears to be damaged, maybe the seal is damaged. There are many signs of leakage. I’m not sure if that P trap can still be used. Seems like some improvisation was done. The right side seems fine. Personally, I would have shortened the drain tubes, but that’s just my preference.
Appreciate everyone’s input, thank you!
I came across a cool upgrade involving a drip pan that I’d swap out 😜
Wow, , this is so amazing!
Seems like it will do the job. Just be sure the dishwasher hose has an air gap by looping it up to the top of the cabinet before draining.
Hey , I believe there is. I’ll make sure to double check once I’m back home.
If it isn’t broken, there’s no need to try and repair it
For extra excitement, I’d add 3 looptie-loops. Weeeeeeeee!
That’s a masterpiece!
They must be connected to the previous owners of this house! 😅 I’ve been hearing from some plumbers that those markings usually mean someone tried to do it themselves – and it looks like they did a pretty bad job in my case. 🫤
Well, , I didn’t personally do the work, but I assume those marks are for aligning the pipes/connectors at the correct angle. Not sure about the curing time for PVC cement.
I don’t think the method is necessarily wrong, but it does come off as amateurish in appearance.
