Is the constant buildup of grime in the water causing an issue with the faucet handle, and would replacing it entirely solve the problem?

Is this issue caused by something in the water? No matter how much I clean it, it never seems to fully go away! Do you think replacing the entire handle would solve the problem?

CLR calcium remover is a great option to consider for tackling mineral build-up in your water.

It seems pretty clear that there is a leak under the handle.

To get rid of hard water deposits, try using vinegar as a cleaning solution.

Could this be why my wife is so stubborn? She uses a lot of shampoo.

Tatiana Langhammer

Lysol toilet bowl cleaner in the black bottle can help with that.

We had the same faucet and faced the same issue. We decided to switch it out with a different one for the same reason. We could never clean it properly because the water stays in the ‘tunnel’.

Dario Barros

Wow, that definitely seems to be a problem with the clear coat.

Not certain about the brand, but if it’s Kohler they offer a lifetime warranty. Some other well-known brands do as well! They ended up replacing my tub faucet twice.

You should give CLR a try!

I actually have the same faucet, and our water is so mineralized that it ends up looking like that after a while. I usually use Lime away or CLR to clean it up.

If the problem isn’t with the clear coat, try using Grease Lightning and a scrub daddy. It works wonders! Makes removing hard water stains a breeze

For hard water deposits, the best solution is to switch to a different water source

The leak seems to be coming from the handle seal. Some leaks can be fixed by simply tightening it.

Hard water stains can be tough to remove. Limeaway is a good product for tackling them.

You might want to consider investing in a water softener system. Hard water can cause damage to your dishwasher, ice maker, and clothes washer, as well as make your tub and tiles feel dirty. Not to mention, your glasses and dishes will always look cloudy. A quality system may cost around $1500-$2000, but it’s well worth the investment. I had to replace several appliances before getting one.

Jordão Peixoto

Water stains are more noticeable on dark surfaces, so consider installing a water softener or using lighter colored fixtures.

Jonathan Howard

The faucet looks dirty again less than a day after cleaning it.
