Is metal corner bead necessary for drywall corners, or is there a simpler alternative like tape for inside corners in a trailer home addition?

Do we really have to use metal corner bead on the drywall corners? Is there a simpler option we could consider? And what about tape for the inside corners? Is there an easier alternative? We’re working on a room added to our trailer, so we’re not too picky about the details.
Consider using this method for outer corners and quarter round for inner corners 🤷🏼♂️
I reside in a mobile home with vinyl-coated wall panels, each seam concealed by flat strips. Two strips are used on outer corners.

At Lowes, they sell 8-foot sticks of flat PVC trim that are 1 1/2 inches wide for about $2.25 each. Personally, I prefer to buy a 2×4 for $2.50 and cut my own strips using a table saw.
Add inside and outside corner trim for a finished look
When the drywall fits tightly in the inside corners, paintable caulk can be used. That’s my go-to method and it works without any issues.
You don’t have to do it, but it will enhance the appearance and prevent cracking issues later on.
The tape isn’t just for athletics, drywall also acts as a fire retardant and must be sealed properly at every seam. Without corner bead, the corners will deteriorate rapidly.
Some outside corners are secured with spray adhesive.
What issues are you encountering with it? Maybe it’s just a matter of technique, and I can offer some suggestions if you’re interested. I personally opt for metal bead in my projects, although some prefer vinyl corner bead. However, paper tape is always used for inside corners.
I prefer metal over vinyl, but if you press the nails too hard into the metal corner bead, it might warp and appear unattractive. Corner bead clinch tools are quite affordable.
Vinyl corner bead is available for purchase
‘t forget to use corner bead to reinforce the corners. It’s easy to install – just staple it in place. And for inside corners, simply tape it.
Honestly, I have no idea. I’ve never tried it before haha
Got it. You might want to check out some YouTube tutorials. I’ve been finishing drywall for over 30 years now, and it’s definitely not as simple as some people believe.
I’ve been telling my husband the same thing, but he still hasn’t done it lol. Fortunately, it’s just a small room and not our main living space haha. We’re thinking of adding wainscotting and a chair rail to make it easier 😂

Nope, you don’t need metal. Vinyl works too. Plus, not every corner bead has to be nailed down. Some can be mudded on.

Consider using 1×3 pine boards for the exterior corners.
Make sure to add something to the outer corners to prevent them from getting damaged. You can also use trim to protect the corners.
