Is it safe to use a masonry drill bit that appears to be missing half of its head?

Hey guys, I need some quick advice. I bought a masonry drill bit, but it looks like it’s missing part of the head. Do you think it’s still safe to use?
There doesn’t seem to be anything missing, it’s just a cap for protection
Could you take a look at the new pictures and video that have been uploaded?
Seems to be indicating that it appears to be defective.
It appears that during manufacturing, the tip was either shifted over or defective. Normally, there should be a flat part on both sides. If it is not equally protruding on both sides, I would suggest returning it.
Yeah, send it back and they will trim the excess
Isn’t that simply the wax coating the end?
Hey , take a look at the new pictures and video
Seems like the point has been moved slightly
Give it a try and see what happens! The worst that could occur is it breaks, right? It’s not the first time it’s happened
I would prefer not to fool around, thank you 🙂
Haha, really?
I wouldn’t recommend using it. I feel like using that would really wear out the bearings in your drill
I only have half a head and honestly, I wouldn’t choose to use me if I had better options
If you return it, it will cover the hole
It seems that the carbide insert was actually brazed onto one side
I’d like to return this item as it appears to have been put together incorrectly.
Could you please take another picture after removing the red wax?
Is going to do it
Added new pictures and a video to the post
I think the oval holes could use a little more precision in cutting.
If it’s defective, I would suggest investing in a better quality one next time. That particular one looks like a harbor freight special.
Ph Civitello mentioned that harbor freight offers a variety of tools, categorized into levels 1-4. As you move up each tier, both the price and quality go up. Overall, they offer some decent tools so it’s worth considering the brand.
