Is it safe to install laminate flooring with a 90 degree angle trim in the area marked by the red circle to avoid potential foot injuries?

I just put in a new laminate floor and I want to continue with the same laminate in this spot, but I’m worried about the red circle area. If the trim forms a sharp 90° angle, could someone possibly stub their toe on the corner? Any ideas on how to handle this?

Seems like it already has a rounded edge.. if the tread is in good condition, leave it as is and just get rid of the carpet

Ever wonder what’s hiding under the carpet? You could attempt miter cutting (at around 45 degrees) the laminate step molding

Check if the flooring has a matching tread or stairnose.
