Do you think it’s okay if I connect this timer to this surge protector power strip for my grow lights and still have room to plug in my other accessories without any issues?

In short, the answer is affirmative.

Just make sure it’s on a 20 amp dedicated circuit.

Anonymous contributor, I noticed that… never plug any heat-producing device into a outlet with less than 20 amps, and nothing else on the same circuit.

Anonymous contributor, it’s safer to plug it into a combination AFCI/GFCI outlet.

Perhaps consider posting the specifics about the grow lights.

Hey, anonymous participant, have you had a chance to check the specifications? How many watts does it indicate?

Tanya Welch

Hey there, just wanted to mention that 100 watts should work well on surge protectors that are UL listed and have a 15 amp rating. It’s always a good idea to double-check that and your timer.

Patrick Hall

I’m skeptical about power strips. If you take one apart and look at the wires inside, you’ll understand why it’s important to be cautious. According to The Electrical Safety Foundation International, over 3,300 home fires start from power strips and extension cords annually. Your safety is important to us, so please follow these guidelines to use power strips, surge protectors, and extension cords safely.
